Vivo in-display fingerptint

VIVO unveiled the first smartphone in the world with in-display fingerprint sensor and it is being applauded from all over the world. The in-display fingerprint brought revolution to the smartphone industry not just because it is under the display but also because it will help the smartphone manufacturer to make their smartphones more slimmer and to attain the bezel-less design.

Coming to the point, fingerprint sensors are being used in the smartphones for many years and it works excellent irrespective of the smartphone budget. Whether we purchase high budget (flagships) smartphones or low budget (or mid rangers) smartphones, we will get the fastest possible responsive fingerprint sensor.

Generally, the fingerprint sensor which we use in our smartphone is capacitive fingerprint sensor which can not be fooled by using a fake print of our fingerprint. This fingerprint sensor use electrical signal to unlock our smartphone. It is more secured and faster than optical fingerprint scanner.

VIVO used OLED panel in their first in-display fingerprint smartphone, which does not need any backlight to light the display. The space occupied by the backlight in IPS LCD screen was used to implement the fingerprint under the display in OLED screen.

However, the fingerprint scanner used in this smartphone is an optical scanner which is not too secure as compared to the capacitive one but the display used in the smartphones are capacitive, so it will work as if it is a capacitive fingerprint.

There are many pixels present in the OLED panel which lights the display. These pixels are located with some gaps in the screen. The gaps between the pixels are used for scanning the fingerprint of the users. In optical fingerprint sensor, when we put our finger on the scanner, the sensors record the fingerprint pattern with the help of ups and down between the fingerprint(we can easily observe them) and with the help of it we can unlock the device. In this smartphone, the light is emitted by the pixels and the pattern is recorded by the optical fingerprint sensor. The reason that in-display fingerprint responds slow because whenever we put our finger on the scanner, first the pixels emit light which then hit our fingerprint (to record the fingerprint) and then it analyse our fingerprint to unlock the device. Also, it remains hidden in the screen while using the smartphone, so it needs some time to get activated and perform its job.

It is reliable and also fast than many smartphones present in the market right now.
